A roll-call vote recorded five ayes — Ochoa, Norbeck, Vice President Todd Koch, President Scott Wallace and Secretary Linda Corbat — and one nay from Trustee Daniel Stawinski. The motion carried to offer the seat to Wasil.
The board had previously recorded a motion by Trustee Daniel Stawinski to offer the seat to candidate Kathleen Moco; that motion received no support and was withdrawn. The meeting minutes list scheduled interview times for Moco (6:15 p.m.) and Wasil (7:00 p.m.) but do not transcribe the interviews themselves.
A teacher, Luke Woods of Fraser High School, later spoke during citizen comment on behalf of colleagues Liz Schmidt and Stephanie Kepler and “shared their teacher perspective on the two candidates,” according to the minutes; the minutes do not quote or summarize the specific views Woods relayed.
A motion by Secretary Linda Corbat, supported by Trustee Autumn Ochoa, adjourned the meeting at 8:09 p.m. The minutes for this special meeting were approved by the Fraser Board of Education at the regular meeting on Aug. 8, 2022.
