Fruitport director recommends declining small Title 3 immigrant‑students grant; committee reviews bond website and delinquent tax packet

Fruitport Community Schools’ Business and Finance Committee on Feb. 2 reviewed several finance items, including a staff recommendation to decline a small federal Title 3 grant, a preview of a bond-progress website, and a packet of delinquent property taxes from Muskegon County.
Mark Mesbergen, the district’s director of business services, recommended that the district not accept the Title 3 – Immigrant Students grant because the award would be less than $2,000 while administrative costs would outweigh the funds. He told the committee that declining the grant would require Board action.
Jason Kennedy said he is developing a bond-progress website for the proposed 2026 school and site bonds and will provide a final draft at the full Board meeting. Kennedy also noted that the district received a packet from Muskegon County listing delinquent property taxes; he will include that packet in the board packet.
No formal committee vote was recorded. Public comment was none. The meeting adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
