The Onslow County Board of Education voted to adopt the fiscal year 2027 budget resolution during its meeting. Mr. Hollowman, presenting the budget, said the board was acting under North Carolina General Statutes 115C‑425 and 115C‑432 and "staff recommends approval of the budget resolution that has been given to you for fiscal year 2027." The motion to adopt the resolution was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Hollowman told the board the superintendent had gathered budget priorities from the board, schools, departments and community stakeholders, and that the board held a special called meeting on April 23, 2026, and a public hearing on May 5, 2026, to receive public comment. He said the proposed resolution includes the local current expense fund, the capital outlay fund and other funds such as the state public school fund, federal grants fund, child nutrition and special revenue funds. He also noted ongoing state funding for school bus replacement and for school construction and repair projects were included in the packet presented to board members.
Board members did not record a roll‑call tally in the transcript; approval occurred by voice. The board moved on to capital projects after adopting the budget.
