The City of Tracy on Saturday celebrated the opening of a new BMX pump track at Clyde Bland Park, an event emceed by Brian McDonald, the city's Parks, Recreation and Community Services director.
"This new BMX pump track facility represents years of thoughtful planning, community input, and a shared commitment to investing in spaces that bring people together," Mayor Daniela said, praising the project as part of the city's parks, recreation and trails master plan.
Richard Joaquin, assistant director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, described the facility as "a continuous riding course made of rollers and berms," and said the site includes an advanced loop and an intermediate loop. Joaquin told the crowd that public meetings in February and March 2023 shaped the design and that the master plan includes a long-term goal of creating three pump tracks in the city by 2040.
Regional officials also recognized the opening. A representative from Congressman Josh Harder's office congratulated the city and said spaces like the track "play an important role in strengthening the community, encouraging active recreation." Samantha Johnson, representing a California State Assembly member's office, presented a certificate honoring the new facility. San Joaquin County Supervisor Robert Rickman presented a recognition certificate and commended city staff.
City staff named the project consultants and contractors involved: Westwood Services as the design team, Frontline General Engineering as general contractor, Spahn Ranch Skateparks as the pump track builder, and Griffin Structures as construction manager. McDonald also thanked park maintenance and public works crews for recent site preparations, including new mulch and parking-lot sealing.
McDonald closed the remarks by inviting city council members to join the ribbon cutting.
No formal votes or policy actions were taken at the event; officials framed the ceremony as a community celebration and a step in implementing the parks master plan.
