Crawford County Board approves FY2025/26 budget amendment, appropriations and routine measures

At 10:00 a.m. the board opened a public hearing on the FY2025/2026 budget amendment; no written or oral objections were recorded and the hearing closed at 10:12 a.m. The board then approved RESOLUTION 2026-23, increasing departmental appropriations by a total of $71,800 to cover overages: Attorney $16,800, General Services $50,000 and IT $5,000. The resolution cites Chapter 331.434(6) of the Code of Iowa and passed on a unanimous vote (Aye: Schultz, Muhlbauer, Dozark, Heiden, Rosburg).
The supervisors also approved routine personnel and administrative items. The board approved wage changes for the County Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office and Louise Galbraith (Veterans Affairs/General Relief) and accepted status changes for Amanda Dirks (part‑time health aide), Kellie Lemon‑Steinkuehler (full‑time jailer) and Shannon Camine (full‑time jailer) in the Sheriff’s Office.
Other approvals included a comp time payout policy change limiting payouts down to 40 hours; adoption of the Safety and Security Council by‑laws; and authorization to recognize claims for the Public Health Department and to pay other departmental claims. The meeting record includes vendor payments totaling $1,393,996.48, with fund-level totals reported (for example, General Basic $120,501.35 and Secondary Road $759,254.79).
The board approved a Verizon lease agreement for $1,550 through Sept. 1, 2029, with a 3% rent increase beginning Sept. 1, 2030 and each anniversary thereafter, and approved a FY2027 Cyber Security Memorandum of Understanding. The board also approved publishing notice for a July 7, 2026 public hearing to consider reclassifying a stretch of F Avenue between 1131 F Ave and 120th St. from Area Service Road B to Area Service Road A.
Procedurally, the board read and approved the previous meeting minutes, approved Clerk of Court fees for May 2026, and noted that agendas for the next meeting will be posted at the courthouse on the Friday preceding the meeting at 4:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 11:37 a.m.
