Clarkston council approves 2026-27 budget, sets millage rates

The City of the Village of Clarkston City Council on June 8 approved the 2026-27 fiscal year budget and authorized summer and winter millage rates, voting 7-0 to adopt the plan that takes effect July 1, 2026.
Councilmember Avery moved, with support from Councilmember Quisenberry, to approve the 2026-27 fiscal year budget proposal, including the General Appropriations Act and a five-year Capital Improvement Plan; the motion passed unanimously. The City Manager and Treasurer were authorized to implement the budget effective July 1, 2026.
Separately, Councilmember Jones moved, with support from Mayor Pro Tem Rodgers, to instruct City Treasurer Gregory Cote’ to prepare summer 2026 tax bills using a millage rate of 5.7054 and winter 2026 tax bills using a millage rate of 5.7053; that motion also passed 7-0. The council recorded the millage rates in the same meeting that adopted the budget.
The adopted budget includes the General Appropriations Act and a five-year Capital Improvement Plan. City officials did not provide a total dollar figure for the budget in the minutes; implementation authority was given to the City Manager and Treasurer. The council adjourned at 8:49 P.M.
The next regular council meeting is scheduled for June 22, 2026, where items tabled earlier on the agenda may be revisited.
