Trustees review finances, circulation and programs; MER and grants keep spending on track

The Dickinson Memorial Library Board reviewed April financial reports and the director’s circulation and program summaries at its May 7 meeting.
The Treasurer reported Gift Fund April expenditures totaled $1,233.94, including a reimbursable $425 program expense and a $549 memorial bench. Two payroll periods were noted and total expenditures were logged at $129,325.33 with an overall balance of $38,327.67. State Aid activity included a second deposit of $4,297.91 and a State Aid balance of $21,774.49.
Under "Materials Expenditure Requirement," Director Misha Storm said the MER is on track. She reported just under $2,000 remained to be spent by year end and that an MBI grant would prevent the need to draw on other funds; the MER will be met through Town funds, the Friends group and the MBI grant.
Storm presented April usage numbers: 1,716 in-person attendance and 4,676 total circulations. April program highlights included an art reception, a childrens' choir concert, a poetry reading by trustee Peter Weis and a selectboard candidate forum. Storm also warned that May programs would be light because of staffing limitations and listed the regular ongoing program offerings for adults and children.
Board members did not record further budget actions in the minutes beyond discussion and acknowledgment of the figures; the board later ratified a separate authorization for HVAC contingency funding.
