Northfield Historical Commission authorizes CPC support letters and $250 for cemetery plaques

At its Feb. 9 meeting the Northfield Historical Commission voted to authorize Chair Sandy Campbell to sign letters of support for two 2026 Community Preservation Committee (CPC) grant applications: a library request to install a mini‑split for climate control in the history room and a project to place historical plaques on about 15 Revolutionary War soldiers’ graves in Center Cemetery. Stacy Bond moved the authorization; Bee Jacque seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Commission members also approved using $250 from the commission’s funds to help cover expenses for the Center Cemetery plaque project. Chair Sandy Campbell requested the allocation and Stacy Bond moved to authorize the payment; Bee Jacque seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the authorization of $250 (the motion appears in SEG 017 and is repeated in SEG 020 of the minutes).
Separately, the commission reviewed a draft disclaimer for a historical 'Squakeag' booklet stemming from past 300th/350th anniversary projects. Lindsay McCarthy will scan the original booklet and send it to Chair Sandy Campbell to post on the Historical Commission web page; printed copies will be provided to the Dickinson Library for public access.
The meeting adjourned at 4:22 p.m. No additional CPC funding decisions were finalized at this meeting beyond the commission’s authorization to submit support letters and to allocate $250 for the plaque project.
