Select Board hears Complete Streets, LEAP sidewalk and culvert assessment updates; downtown permitting support continues

The Select Board on April 28 received updates on several infrastructure and planning efforts, including engineering work supported by a LEAP grant, a planned culvert assessment, and ongoing downtown permitting assistance.
Town Administrator Andrea Llamas reported she has met with the Assessors’ Clerk for preliminary Complete Streets discussions and said a LEAP grant is funding engineering for sidewalks on Parker Avenue. Llamas noted continuing concerns with the Warwick–Parker–Main intersection and said she will meet with the Highway Department and other stakeholders to identify additional areas for attention.
Llamas also said the town will begin a culvert assessment inventory later in the spring and cautioned that the inventory will take time to complete. Downtown district support is continuing; Christian Laplante is preparing a permitting guide for local businesses, and the new owner of Centennial House has been connected with that guidance.
On regional energy infrastructure, the board was told the Northfield Mountain Federal Energy Regulatory Commission relicensing process is ongoing but that there was no new information to report at this meeting.
No votes on project funding or approvals occurred at the April 28 meeting; staff said further outreach and interdepartmental coordination are planned.
