Morrow council approves conditional use for Hertz car rental at 1381 Mount Zion Road

The Morrow City Council voted unanimously May 26 to approve a conditional use permit allowing an automotive rental business (Hertz) to operate at 1381 Mount Zion Road. Mayor John J. Lampl II called for the motion after staff presented the application and the Planning and Zoning Board’s recommendation of approval.
Staff member Mrs. Marti told the council that the property meets the city’s conditional-use requirements, exceeds the minimum lot size, and will use 20 designated parking spaces for vehicle staging. She said no vehicle washing or mechanical maintenance will be conducted on-site.
Mayor Lampl urged the applicant to provide adequate lighting and camera coverage for the vehicle staging area and said Code Enforcement will monitor operational restrictions. The prospective location manager for the proposed site was present and indicated Hertz intends to relocate its existing Mount Zion Road operation to the new address while continuing to serve the community. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The council approved the permit on a motion by Councilman Wayne Collins, seconded by Councilwoman Lana J. Labay. The vote was unanimous.
What happens next: With the conditional use permit approved, the applicant may proceed with site preparations and any required permitting consistent with the conditions described by staff. The council noted ongoing enforcement of the operational restrictions would be handled by city staff.
