The Mandeville Zoning Commission postponed action on a variance request from Josh and Luci Brandner (V26-03-06) for a property in the Old Town of Mandeville at its March 24 meeting. The request sought relief under CLURO Section 9.2.5.2 (Vegetation Protection Zones) for Square 26 Lot Z, 149 Coffee.
Chairman Brian Rhinehart read the request into the record and the applicants asked to postpone the hearing. The commission requested additional information to evaluate environmental and site impacts, specifically an expert opinion comparing the potential impacts of removing the cement versus leaving it in place and documentation of the expert's credentials. Commissioners said the materials must be provided in enough time for the commission to evaluate both the report and the qualifications of the person presenting it. Public comment on the postponement was given by Carolyn Monteith and Laura Place.
Commissioner Karen Gautreaux moved to postpone the item; Commissioner Scott Quillin seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission noted the petition will be considered again after the requested materials are submitted and reviewed. The commission also reminded attendees that there will be only one meeting in April, on April 14.
