Town Administrator Bob Graves updated the Hinsdale Select Board on conditions at 85 Goodrich St on May 27, saying the property owner, Meredydd Cooper, has temporary housing and that forced hot-air ducts have been cleared. Graves said professional duct cleaning and filter replacement are scheduled before restarting the heating system, after which a plumbing contractor will assess and repair any leaks.
Graves said testing and a structural inspection are needed; once results are received the board may consider granting another extension to Aug. 1. Cooper is applying for grant funding with assistance from Neighbor to Neighbor and is receiving social-worker support from Berkshire Medical Center Phelps Cancer Center. Friends and volunteers have removed dead trees and completed some interior clearing; a dumpster has been delivered but significant cleanup remains.
The board directed staff to arrange testing and inspection and to report results back to the Select Board. No formal enforcement action or deadline was adopted at the meeting; the potential Aug. 1 extension was described as contingent on inspection outcomes and completion of repairs.
