Finance presenter Miss Cunningham gave a high‑level review of the Town’s unaudited financial statements: the general fund collected about $1.388 million (roughly 103% of budget) and reported net income of about $118,000; the utility fund collected nearly $2.4 million and showed operating revenue over expenses of roughly $333,000. Capital outlays and DEEQ reimbursements affected timing, and staff noted some capital projects planned for 2025 did not occur; the town will finalize numbers after the forthcoming audit by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor.
On water operations, Danette reported the emergency connection with UIL has been completed but is not yet active. A camera test of the well was tentatively scheduled for March 9; staff said the town will notify residents before switching to the UIL connection. Officials warned that reverse flow and differing manganese levels in the backup system may cause short‑term discoloration for some customers but said they do not expect a boil‑water advisory. The town has flushing capabilities for affected mains and will post updates to the town website.
Council discussed the budget implications, CPI-based utility rate adjustments effective March 1 that are intended to help cover new debt, and the need for possible budget amendments for unanticipated capital or debt items once final audited numbers are available.
