Votes at a glance: council approves appointments, claims, surplus resolutions and meeting cancellation

At its Dec. 4 meeting the City of York council recorded several formal actions and votes.
Appointments and staffing: The mayor appointed Darin Lopez to fill the seat vacated by Vicky Northrup; council moved, seconded and approved the appointment. The council noted the swearing-in will take place at the next meeting and the appointee may vote after being sworn in.
Claims and finance: The finance committee reported two claims for elected officials: one for Tony North in the amount of $36,924, and a second for "Steven Posier" associated with YCDC/Yukon Development Corporation for an amount transcribed as "9,77.25." The council approved both claims and then approved the claims for the period Nov. 21–Dec. 4, 2025 after the finance committee reported no questions.
Scheduling: On staff recommendation the council moved and approved cancelling the scheduled Jan. 1, 2026 meeting, with members noting no financial or clerical issues would result from dropping one meeting in the calendar year.
Surplus property: The council approved Resolution 2025-27 to declare certain police department items surplus and authorize disposal to appropriate government entities (police equipment such as tasers will not be auctioned to the public), and approved Resolution 2025-29 to declare general city property surplus for auction (items such as library tables and chairs). Both resolutions were approved by roll-call vote.
Ordinance: Council conducted the second reading of Ordinance 2411 (annexation of a portion of Lot 3, Sidel’s Addition); no final (third-reading) action was taken and the third reading is scheduled for the next meeting.
