Brandon, representing city staff, said the project was budgeted at about $1.8 million. Although Vancirk was not the lowest bidder, staff recommended them after reference checks raised concerns about the lowest bidders. "We have some pretty good experience with Vancirk," Brandon said, and staff included an engineer's recommendation.
The project covers several streets (including Blackburn and York Avenue) and includes Phasing options; per the contract, work was to be completed prior to Oct. 2026. Council approved the award by roll call.
What happens next: Staff will finalize contracting, coordinate construction phasing, and notify residents in affected areas about scheduling.
