Council approves parking ordinance changes, minutes, Juneteenth funding and CAGO appointments

The Kings Mountain City Council handled a set of routine and consent items on April 14, adopting minutes, approving parking-code clarifications, funding a community Juneteenth event, and naming county association representatives.
Council unanimously adopted the Feb. 20 work‑session minutes. Assistant Police Chief Lance Hamrick described proposed changes to Chapter 73 of the Code of Ordinances to address parked vehicles that materially obstruct reasonable sight lines for motorists exiting driveways or approaching intersections and to consolidate large vehicle/trailer parking rules into a single section; staff recommended approval to improve roadway safety and reduce confusion. The council voted unanimously to amend Section 73.04 as requested (Ordinance 26‑15).
Communications and Marketing Director Susan Mosk requested a $4,500 budget amendment to support a Davidson Association–organized Juneteenth observance on June 20; organizers Janie and Leroy McVay noted last year’s attendance of about 3,600. Council approved the amendment unanimously.
Council also elected Councilmember Annie Thombs as Director and Councilmember Shearra Miller as Alternate to the Cleveland County Association of Government Officials (CAGO), by unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
