Lake Topanemus Commission approves minutes, treasurer's report; schedules volunteer workday and construction of floating pier

Commissioner Kirk Tibbett moved to accept the report; Commissioner Bob Higley seconded and the motion passed (all in favor).
Commissioner Luongo moved and Commissioner Christopher Kean seconded a separate motion to return a $350 check to Open Door in gratitude for their services; that motion also passed (all in favor). Commissioner Kane reported a pavilion rental request for June 20, 2026 for approximately 40 guests with a $100 rental fee; Commissioner Luongo volunteered to meet the renters and assist.
On operations and maintenance, Commissioner Kane said paddle boats are in the water and working for volunteer use, paint for benches is available, and a community work project is scheduled for July 18, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Kirk Tibbett reported that a donor has offered materials for a floating pier and that he will construct it; commissioners discussed placement and whether the commission would incur expense for siting the pier.
Commissioner Edward Daley requested and received agreement to place a lake painting by local artist Leslie Daley in Borough Hall. Guest Jim Lau volunteered to assist with boats for Olde Freehold Day. Guest Tom Cook said he had received an email about fishing line in trees around the lake; Commissioner Higley said he has been removing fishing line and has seen fishermen retrieving it as well. The formal public comment period recorded no comments.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Commissioner Joe Luongo, seconded by Commissioner Edward Daley; the meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
