New community group 'Giving Hope in DuBois' introduces services and seeks partnership with city

Speakers representing the group described a twice‑monthly feeding program, distribution of about 50 backpacks stocked with hygiene items, a back‑to‑school supply drive and efforts to provide triage support, counseling and job assistance. The group said it is researching regional shelter models and collecting data to design a safe, scalable warming‑shelter approach for the city.
Kim Mauy, identified as founder and vice president of Giving Hope in DuBois, told the council the organization operates within section 501(c)(3) guidelines and emphasized a commitment to “transparent stewardship where every voice matters.” Other presenters — including an ambassador at large, a treasurer and a director of community engagement — described the group’s evidence‑based, service‑first approach and invited collaboration with city leaders and agencies.
Council members responded positively, thanked the group for their outreach and several pledged to follow up with the organization about potential partnerships with the city’s finance and social services teams.
Giving Hope representatives said they will continue outreach and offered a point of contact for residents seeking assistance.
