The Kewanee City Council began its Jan. 28 meeting by adjourning to executive session under Section 2(C)(2) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss collective bargaining. The motion to enter closed session was made by Council Member Steve Faber, seconded by Council Member Michael Yaklich, and carried 4-0.
The executive session ended at 6:40 p.m.; the open meeting reconvened at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Steve Looney informed the public that the Council had met in closed session pursuant to the cited provision of the Open Meetings Act.
After reconvening, the Council approved its consent agenda, which included minutes of the Jan. 14 meeting and payroll for the pay period ending Jan. 19, 2019 in the amount of $194,882.18. On a separate motion, the Council approved bills submitted for payment totaling $307,419.70. All votes recorded during the evening were 4 ayes, no nays. The meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
