The Brownwood City Council unanimously accepted the city’s financial audit for the year ended Sept. 30, 2025, after a presentation by Chris Pruitt of Pattillo, Brown & Hill, LLP.
Pruitt told the council his firm audited the governmental and business‑type activities and other component information and, "in our opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the respective financial position" of the city and related funds for the year ended Sept. 30, 2025. He described the report as an unmodified opinion, the firm’s highest-level assurance.
The auditor briefly reviewed financial highlights included in the council packet, and Councilmembers voted unanimously to accept the audit. City officials said the opinion supports making sound financial decisions based on the statements and noted the audit had been reviewed in detail by the Audit Committee.
Next steps: Acceptance places the audit into the public record and supports the city’s financial reporting and budgeting processes. The council took no additional action beyond acceptance.
