Brownwood council cancels May 2 city election after candidates run unopposed

Councilmember Draco A. Miller moved and Councilmember Ed McMillian seconded adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried unanimously and the council adopted Ordinance No. 26-01, which declares the unopposed candidates elected and cancels the May 2 election.
The ordinance includes a severability clause and an effective date; the cancellation follows state law procedures that permit local governments to cancel an election when all candidates are unopposed.
