The Monroe City Council unanimously condemned the building at 3507 Dick Taylor and gave the owner 30 days to bring the structure into compliance with city code or demolish it. The motion was made by Mr. McFarland and seconded by Mr. Harvey and carried without opposition.
Code Enforcement Officer Tommy James told the Council photographic evidence had been presented and that the owner "pulled the permit for this property yesterday." Council members expressed support for moving forward with condemnation if the property was not brought into compliance.
Under the Council action, the owner — listed as Above Average Properties, LLC, c/o Frank Goodin, registered agent — must either remediate the structure to code standards or remove it within the 30‑day period. If the owner fails to act, the City indicated it will proceed with demolition and lot clean-up in accordance with municipal procedures.
The Council took no public comment on the item during the meeting. The condemnation will be added to the Council's follow-up list for compliance tracking.
