Plainfield police and a resident recognized for two March incidents

The Plainfield Board of Police Commissioners on May 7 recognized several officers and a resident for actions during two March incidents.
Mr. Prewitt presented a certificate of commendation, reading that "Chief Kyle Pruitt, on behalf of the Plainfield Police Department, hereby commends" Corporal Michael Monardo, Officers Dakota Carlton, Nick Greeson and Isaiah Mizell, as well as Chase Whitaker and Ben Wilson, for their response to a March 19 domestic disturbance. According to the citation read aloud by Mr. Prewitt, dispatch reported the male subject was possibly armed with a knife and was threatening self‑harm; officers and Hendricks County Sheriff's deputies established a perimeter and attempted de‑escalation before using less‑lethal tools including a beanbag shotgun, a 40‑millimeter foam launcher, a Taser and a ballistic shield. The statement said officers were able to take the subject into custody without further injury and medics transported him to a local hospital for mental‑health intervention.
Also at the meeting Mr. Prewitt presented a Citizen Commendation to David Lee for intervening on March 3 after a stolen vehicle fled through Plainfield, crashed into Mr. Lee's yard and the driver attempted to flee on foot. "Due to Mr. Lee's bravery and commitment, the subject was arrested, and no civilians or officers were injured during the incident," the citation said; IMPD arrested the driver and Plainfield police filed local charges for resisting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.
Photos were taken following both recognitions. The board did not discuss disciplinary matters or open investigations during the presentations; the acknowledgements were framed as commendations for the individuals named.
