Board approves Prospect Avenue traffic study contract; designates $30,000 in ARPA funds

The North Fond du Lac Village Board on Nov. 6 approved a contract with MSA for a Prospect Avenue traffic study and designated American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for the work.
Dir. of Public Works Mitch Vis recommended the village enter into the contract after Administrator Nick Leonard and department staff summarized proposals. Trustee Chuck Hornung moved to approve the contract and Trustee John Duffy seconded; the motion carried with all ayes. Vis told the board the study would begin soon and would be completed by the end of February.
The study will produce alternatives for potential improvements; Leonard said public involvement would follow once those alternatives are developed and that he had reached out to the City of Fond du Lac and the Town of Fond du Lac about participating. The Board passed Resolution 15-2023 to designate up to $30,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to complete the study. Trustee Ann Price moved to approve the resolution, Trustee Mike Will seconded, and the vote was 5–0.
The contract approval and the ARPA designation together set the village on a path to complete an engineering and alternatives analysis this winter, after which elected officials will decide whether to advance specific roadway changes and how to involve the public in design and funding.
