Manuel Avila, a resident of 103 Polk Street, used the Citizens Participation portion of the May 20 Village Board meeting to report that his neighbor built a garage he believes is too close to the shared property line and that he has been served papers by that neighbor.
Avila asked the Board who from the Village would be held accountable for allowing the garage to be built so close to the property line. The public minutes record his question but do not document a response from trustees or staff or any follow-up direction in the publicly available portion of the record.
The exchange was recorded during the Citizens Participation segment of the meeting; the minutes do not indicate whether the Board or staff will investigate the neighbor dispute or refer the matter to enforcement, inspection, or legal counsel.
