Commission approves Audio Valley Charter resource center; permit allows small on‑site check‑ins

The Moreno Valley Planning Commission on June 25 approved a conditional‑use permit allowing Audio Valley Charter to open a 3,240‑square‑foot resource center in an existing shopping center tenant space.

Christian Lua, assistant planner, told commissioners the site is in the community commercial zone and that the project proposes to operate as a non‑classroom independent‑study resource center serving students in grades 6–12. "Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and at any given time the proposed project will have a capacity of no more than 25 students and six staff members," Lua said.

Tim Tudtor, deputy superintendent for Audio Valley Charter, said the center will provide one‑on‑one tutoring and small group sessions and will function as a non‑classroom resource where students come in twice per week to submit curriculum and review progress. No exterior building modifications are proposed.

Staff recommended and the commission approved the permit by a unanimous vote; the action is final unless appealed to the Community Development Director within the 10‑day appeal period. The project will proceed to building‑permit review and subject to standard conditions attached to the approval.
