Miranda Holiday, who recently joined the Onslow County Health Department, said the department will mark Chronic Disease Awareness Day on July 10 and will use the observance to promote prevention programs for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and stroke. "Prevention isn't perfection, it's simply progress," Holiday said, describing the department’s messaging.
Holiday described two of the department's programs: 'Healthy for Life,' a low-commitment virtual program that meets once a month with a July 7 start date for the next session; and a Diabetes Prevention program structured over a year with more frequent sessions in its early months and monthly sessions later in the program. Both programs are offered via Zoom and available on the health department website.
