Henry County commissioners on June 24 approved a professional services agreement with Ritter Strategic Services to prepare for installation of a fifth console at the county's 911 dispatch center, with final work to proceed after one commissioner reviews the detailed scope.
The contract covers professional services to plan and oversee a new dispatch workstation; commissioners were told the existing consoles are about 23 years old and the additional position is intended to accommodate staffing growth and vendor access. "He's got the expertise. He's helped most of our surrounding counties with similar projects," Brian said, describing Ritter and the contractor Barry.
Commissioner Joel said he had reviewed the professional services agreement but asked to see the separate scope-of-work document before final signature. "If you want to approve that subject to my review, I'd be fine with that," Joel said. Commissioners moved to approve the agreement and the scope pending Joel's review; the motion was seconded and carried.
County staff said funds were already set aside for the project. The plan is to install the additional workstation now and delay equipping it with new phones and radios until a larger equipment refresh several years later. Officials characterized the immediate step as preparing the physical console and reserving capacity for future equipment upgrades.
Next steps: staff will provide Commissioner Joel the scope-of-work attachment for review and final sign-off before the county executes the full contract.
