Carencro officials report low water complaints, arrests in vehicle burglaries and robust Pelican Park summer program

Water Supervisor Buster Broussard told the council the city experienced minimal water complaints in June and recently hosted the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, LRWA, elected officials and the city's new engineering firm to discuss plans and tour sewer infrastructure related to future sewer system work.
Assistant Police Chief Trent Walker reported a rash of vehicle burglaries in the community and said five suspects have been arrested in connection with those incidents. He also noted the Carencro School Resource Officers conducted their annual 'Badges of Trust' program at Carencro High School.
Fire Chief David Mouton said department personnel completed 26 hours of company training, the July 4 event at Pelican Park had no major issues, the department provided fire prevention instruction to Little Blessings Childcare, and assisted Lafayette Fire Department during Engineer Darion Whetstone’s funeral. Chief Mouton relayed that Lafayette Consolidated Government announced a new pumper tanker that will be issued to cities and that the Carencro Fire Department has smoke detectors available to residents on request.
Parks staff reported the summer program and events were well attended: Pelican Park hosted daily summer camp for approximately 230 children (7 a.m.–6 p.m.), men’s flag football, soccer leagues, workout classes and a dog show scheduled in July. The Carencro Community Center hosted six events and the Welcome Center opened to the public on July 16.
Engineer Andy Sellers gave a preliminary estimate of $250,000–$300,000 to implement a 125‑foot right‑hand turn lane on Ira; the presentation noted this would be the city's responsibility if pursued. Mayor Charlotte Clavier also said the city is still awaiting LAMATS debris‑removal bids.
