Cameron Parish board accepts audit, rejects Verizon lease and OKs $200,000 Explorer STEM donation

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Cameron Parish School Board accepted an Independent Auditor's Report and took two consequential decisions on district property and program funding.
On the motion of Joseph Delcambre, seconded by Randall Faulk, the board accepted the independent audit prepared by Gragson, Casiday & Guillory, LLP. The minutes record that the board received a monthly property income report from Mr. Mike Cassidy of the Cameron Parish district attorney's office.
Later in the same segment, on a motion by Delcambre seconded by Sharon Picou, the board declined a proposal by Verizon Wireless to lease school board property in Johnson Bayou to install a cell tower. That motion was recorded as approved and the lease proposal was declined.
Also on Jan. 13 the board approved a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Commonwealth Explorer Program to accept a $200,000 donation to fund an Explorer STEM program; that approval followed a motion by Joseph Delcambre, seconded by Randall Faulk and was recorded in the minutes.
