North Knox board approves Lifewise Academy, personnel hires, budget calendar and routine business

At a regular meeting the North Knox School Corporation board approved several administrative and personnel items, including implementation of a Lifewise Academy at the primary school, multiple staffing actions and a budget calendar for 2027.
The board moved to implement Lifewise Academy, with administrators recommending the program start at the primary building and later expand to the intermediate school. "That's what my recommendation is. You go ahead and approve that this evening," the presiding speaker said when presenting the recommendation; the motion passed by voice vote.
The meeting included a series of routine approvals: minutes from May special meetings, claims and financial statements, renewal of treasurer bonds, acceptance of a $2,400 United Way donation to support North Primary Jump Start, and a collaborative agreement with Pace Community Action Agency that administrators characterized as the same type of partnership the district has used previously. Administrators also presented the 2027 budget calendar and noted the board moved the budget-adoption meeting from Oct. 19 to Oct. 12 to avoid fall break; a public budget hearing was scheduled for Sept. 21.
Under personnel items the board approved a slate of coaching and extracurricular hires (head and assistant coaches across girls and boys programs), multiple volunteer coaches, several resignations and internal staff transfers, a maternity-leave request for Riley Wampler, and employment of maintenance and summer custodial staff including Roger Lemons as assistant transportation/grounds person. The board approved hiring a list of Jump Start teachers and aides for North Knox Primary.
Administrators reported there would be no increase in school lunch prices for 2026–27 and asked the board to approve the price schedule as presented; the board approved the schedule. Meeting participants also confirmed the next board meeting for July 13 at 5:00 p.m.
