Board approves routine agenda items, personnel changes and community requests

The North Knox School Corporation board completed a series of routine approvals and personnel actions at its meeting, including minutes and claims, contract renewals, athletic schedules and community facility use.
The board approved the March 9 meeting minutes and accepted claims and financial statements (Tab B) after asking for questions of "Karen," who was referenced in the packet. The board approved renewal of the Airmark food-service contract (Tab I), with staff saying the renewal includes about a 4.1% increase tied to rising commodity costs. Summer athletic schedules for volleyball, football and boys basketball (Tab C) were approved. The board also approved the Northox Intermediate emergency plan (Tab D) and a request to conduct a 'summer Jump Start' program at North Primary from July 13–24 (Tab E).
Personnel actions approved included volunteer assistant softball coaches Kobe Cleo and Dustin Mccclure and a volunteer high-school baseball coach identified by first name Betty, all of whom passed background checks. The board accepted resignations from North Knox Junior-Senior High School English teacher Jordan Clong and history teacher Alan Bing, and approved a leave of absence for North Knox Primary teacher Shay Marzac. The board also approved a facilities use request from Backpack Blessings to distribute school supplies July 24–25.
Board members thanked community partners and the Knox County Sheriff's Department (Major Mike Fischer was mentioned) for assistance on emergency planning. Board members and staff also reviewed testing windows and the spring/summer events calendar. The board set its next meeting for May 18 at 5:00 and adjourned.
