When a board member asked why neighboring districts were distributing a $2,000 teacher stipend this month while Caldwell Parish was not, finance staff David replied, "we're paying that out at Christmas time," saying the district planned the payout to align with the holiday cycle and prior state constraints on distribution timing.
District staff described a $75,000 state grant designated for high-dosage, in-person tutoring, primarily to support students who scored basic or below in math or ELA. The district is contracting a vetted in-person provider that hires trained tutors, places students in small groups during specials/accelerate times and prioritizes in-person delivery after disappointing virtual experiences. Staff said sessions will be scheduled during students' specials or acceleration time so they are not pulled from core reading instruction.
Leaders said participation has increased month-over-month and the district will monitor outcomes. The board also received logistics and event announcements including homecoming, parent-teacher conference times, and a planned community appreciation breakfast in November.
