North Knox board to file letter after FY2025 teacher compensation calculation falls short of statutory minimum

The presenter told the board the FY2025 calculation was 61.57%, short of the 62% requirement. He said the shortfall was largely driven by fewer teachers electing district health insurance (a factor in the calculation), an off-site Spanish class that is excluded from the district’s calculation, and the district’s temporary shortage of a special-education teacher. “We were at 61.57%,” the presenter said while explaining the reasons for the variance.
Board members were told the gap is small and that planned raises and a stipend approved the prior month are expected to push the district’s teacher compensation percentage above the next statutory threshold (65%) in the coming year. The board approved the motion to forward the required explanatory documentation to the appropriate agency; the transcript records the motion, a second and that the motion carried.
