The Town of Chester Board of Selectmen agreed Tuesday to forward three Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) funding applications to a formal vote at their next meeting after a brief public hearing at Chester Town Hall and via Microsoft Teams.
First Selectman Cynthia Lignar called the hearing to order at 6:48 p.m., read the public hearing legal notice and presented the applications. The requests, all described as energy-conservation projects, total $232,815.
Lignar said the first application comes from Goodspeed Musicals and seeks $73,000 to purchase and refurbish HVAC equipment at the Terris Theatre. The second request, from the Town of Chester, seeks $150,000 to replace boilers at Chester Elementary School. A third Town application asks for $9,815 to install energy‑efficient lighting at the Department of Public Works garage, including the salt and sand shed.
Selectman Paul Radicchi and the lone member of the public in attendance, Phil Reynolds, expressed no concerns during the hearing. The selectmen agreed to move the three applications forward to a vote by the Board of Selectmen at its next meeting. The public hearing closed at 6:57 p.m.
The applications will be decided by the Board of Selectmen at a subsequent meeting; the hearing record lists the project descriptions and requested amounts for review.
