Clinton police report BJAG grant for vests; fire, maintenance reports show routine responses and repairs

Police Chief Davis presented the June police report at the July 8 meeting, reporting 24 citations issued, two tickets dismissed, eight calls and three arrests. Chief Davis said the department has 1,577 outstanding warrants (in-state and out-of-state), that four cases and one juvenile ticket were forwarded to the District Attorney, and that fines collected by AMS totaled $2,710.89 with total fines including AMS at $14,155.49.
Chief Davis told the board, "We were awarded a grant from BJAG to purchase bullet proof vests for the police department." He also asked the board to keep Officer Malcolm Turner in their prayers.
Assistant Chief Ey gave the fire department report: 13 calls in June (one alarm in town; three fires including a shed fire on Anna Moore Lane and a Woodland fire on Highway 67 North; two mutual-aid responses; eight medical calls; one MVA outside town where a truck and trailer lost control on Highway 955). Ey reported 149 calls year-to-date and a roster of 20 members. The fire department is working with the maintenance department on a stopped-up catch basin between Old Buck Stark’s business and Richardson Funeral Home.
Mayor Kemp delivered the maintenance report: crews worked at the sewer pond, repaired a sewer leak on Pine Street, placed lights by the chlorination station, located and repaired gas lines on Oak Drive and Jackson Street, cut grass townwide, collected trash, filled potholes, replaced signs and cleaned ditches and limbs. Kemp said the town is exploring use of a flail or boom mower to maintain roadside grass in easements.
Aldermen moved to accept the police, fire and maintenance reports; each motion was recorded in the minutes as "Motion passed." No roll-call vote tallies were provided.
