Board signs off on bleacher replacement, policy revisions and administrative updates

At its Nov. 10 meeting the Cameron Parish School Board approved multiple facilities and policy items and received the Superintendent’s report. The Board approved replacing bleachers at South Cameron High School on a motion by R. Mitchell Kelley seconded by Marsha Trahan. The Board also approved revisions to Policy JBE (Truancy) on a motion by Sharon Picou, seconded by Christi Labove.
The Board received a package of policy revisions prepared in response to Act 479 (2025 legislative updates) including GAAA (Equal Opportunity Employer), JAA (Equal Education Opportunity), IDDF (Education of Students with Exceptionalities), IDDFC (Cameras in Special Education Classrooms), JD (Discipline) and JDA (Corporal Punishment) for review. The Superintendent presented maintenance and transportation updates (Robert Gates) and construction project updates from Hoffpauir Architects. The Board approved changing the December meeting date to Dec. 1, 2025, and approved a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival; the motions for those items were made by Sharon Picou and seconded by Christi Labove.
