Cameron Parish School Board authorizes up to $25 million bond, approves Cheniere LNG pilot and conditional property sale

The Cameron Parish School Board voted Sept. 8 to authorize the district to borrow up to $25,000,000 through the Louisiana Local Government Environmental Facilities and Community Development Authority to support district needs. The resolution authorizing the borrowing was recorded in the minutes and the roll call was recorded as unanimous.
At the same meeting the board, on a motion by Board member Joseph Delcambre and seconded by Marsha Trahan, received information and approved a Cheniere LNG pilot presented by Superintendent Charley Lemons; that vote was also recorded as unanimous. The board approved payment of bills on a motion by Christi Labove, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, and received routine financial statements and a report of current investments from Mrs. Hayes.
The board approved renewals for multiple insurance coverages presented by a representative of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., including excess workers' compensation, crime coverage, general liability, automobile coverage, educator legal liability and uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage.
The board accepted a sole bid for purchase of district property at 510 Marshall St., Cameron, LA on the condition that Cameron Parish School Board would remain occupants of the property until renovations at the facility are complete. The acceptance was made on a motion by Randall Faulk, seconded by Christi Labove; the motion records the conditional occupancy requirement in the purchase documentation.
A Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Cameron Parish Waterworks District 7 was approved following a motion by Marsha Trahan and a second by Randall Faulk; the minutes record an abstention by Vickie Kiffe on that item. No bids were received for the Section T13S-R12W lease and the board took no action on that solicitation.
The meeting adjourned after the superintendent's report and routine closing motions.
