Summerfield High students demonstrate classroom robotics at Claiborne Parish School Board meeting

Miss Ella Adkins, a Summerfield High senior, welcomed the Claiborne Parish School Board to Summerfield High and described the school's theme for the year as "Growing Greatness." She highlighted the school's academic and extracurricular accomplishments, including the FFA Carpentry Team qualifying for regional and state competition, the JV boys basketball team’s nearly undefeated season, and the Beta Club qualifying for nationals in Orlando in 2025.
Adkins introduced two students from Mr. Ward's sixth-grade robotics class, Isabelle Foust and Tripp Massey. The students described and demonstrated how they load a robotics program into a computer to transmit commands to a robot; their program moved the robot a specified number of inches in each direction and finished at a designated stop. Board members asked the students questions about the project and expressed being impressed by their work.
The minutes record the presentation as part of the board's welcome and do not show any formal action resulting from the demonstration. Superintendent Chris Brooks and board members thanked Summerfield High for hosting the meeting.
