Burlington approves engineering agreement for Pine Street sewer replacement

The Burlington City Council voted March 12 to approve an engineering services agreement with Gray & Osborne, Inc., to design the 2026 Pine Street sanitary sewer pipe replacement.
Sewer Supervisor Don Erickson told the council the project "requires redesign due to deep, sandy conditions and conflicts with existing utilities," explaining that subsurface conditions and nearby utilities have complicated the original design. Councilor Scott Green moved to approve the agreement and Councilor James Stavig seconded; the motion carried with all members present voting in favor.
The agreement authorizes the firm to complete necessary redesign and prepare construction documents so the city can proceed to bidding and construction. The council did not provide a detailed contract amount during the meeting; staff indicated the redesign work is required before construction can proceed.
