Police, fire and maintenance reports accepted; fire chief notes death of former assistant chief

Assistant Police Chief Kilcrease presented the March police report: 33 citations issued, three tickets dismissed, 10 calls and three arrests; one burglary/theft; three cases forwarded to the district attorney; and fines collected by AMS of $3,721.78 (total fines including AMS $8,031.78). The report also noted 1,551 outstanding warrants in-state and out-of-state. The board moved to accept the police report.
Fire Chief Beauchamp told the board there were 40 calls in March (21 inside Clinton, 13 in the surrounding territory and six mutual-aid responses). He reported the recent death of former Assistant Chief Glenn Myers and said the insurer PIAL requested more precise town boundary descriptions; the mayor and police jury president need to sign boundary documentation and the town may obtain GPS legal descriptions. The council accepted the fire report.
Mayor Kemp summarized maintenance activity: sewer repairs and pond cleanup, multiple gas-line repairs across town, trash pickup, tree removal, mowing at park and pond, and installation of stop signs on Maple Street; the board accepted the maintenance report. In mayoral comments the mayor noted the town received an ACT 776 legislative grant of $20,000 for the police department to purchase seven handheld radios and one vehicle in-dash radio (requested by Chief Davis).
