Director Kimberly Grad told the Abbot Public Library Board of Trustees on Nov. 6 that she submitted the FY26 draft budget to the Finance Department through ClearGov and filed a revised best‑case request.
The revised request asks for an additional $35,000 for materials to bring the library up to current State Aid formulas. The submission also requests three part‑time positions — a custodian (union), a librarian (union) and a restored temporary library assistant (non‑union) — with the stated aim of reducing emergency closures caused by staff shortages and expanding programming in a proposed makerspace. The request includes a 2% cost‑of‑living adjustment plus step increases for staff salaries, updated estimates for utilities and maintenance, an additional amount for technology infrastructure maintenance, and a more accurate FY26 contracted NOBLE expense estimate.
Trustees received the budget overview; no formal vote on the FY26 request was recorded in the minutes. The draft has been submitted to the town Finance Department for review through the municipal budgeting process.
