City Manager April Storms used her March 3 open-session annual review to list recent professional development and to outline priorities for the coming year, while the council deferred action on new police department policies pending committee review.
Storms told the council she completed a leadership cohort and steps toward Redevelopment Ready Community (RRC) certification. She listed near-term goals that include maintaining flextime and work–life balance for staff, fully transitioning Samantha into the treasurer role, completing RRC certification, finishing the Smith Park project, advancing a lead/copper water replacement project, and exploring housing development on acreage acquired from the school at Lester and Weiner streets.
Chief Jon Patterson introduced new White Cloud Police Department Standard Operating Procedures that have been vetted by an attorney and are based on the City of Grant's SOPs. Council members asked that the Personnel Committee review the SOPs before final council approval; the minutes record the request and a postponement of final action to allow committee review.
Council took no formal disciplinary or personnel actions during the meeting. The administration was directed to have the Personnel Committee review the police SOPs and return a recommendation to council at a future meeting.
