Campbell County schools approve financial report, award major food and janitorial bids

At its June meetings the Campbell County Board of Education approved monthly financial reports and a set of budget amendments, then approved procurement recommendations to secure district food and janitorial supplies.
Director of Finance Jeff Marlow presented balance‑sheet figures for the district’s funds, reporting cash with trustee of $22,633,008.11 in the General Purpose School Fund (141) as of April 30, 2025, and other fund balances included in the packet. After discussion the board approved the April 30 monthly financial report and four June budget amendments and resolutions.
Marlow and district staff recommended awarding the food/non‑food supply contract to Sysco (lowest responsive bid of about $3.57 million) and awarding janitorial supplies to Ellison Supply (approximately $47,836.55). The board approved both recommendations on roll call (Cummins absent). School Nutrition Supervisor Jamie Gillum supported the Sysco recommendation.
The board also approved advertising several special‑education buses as surplus; if no bids are received the district will declare them dilapidated and dispose of them according to policy.
Motions recorded: approval of the monthly financial report; approval of four budget amendments; award of the food/non‑food bid to Sysco; award of janitorial‑supply bid to Ellison Supply; and approval to advertise listed special‑education buses as surplus.
