The board invited honorees for a group photo.
Janna Bennett, introduced as representing LSU/LSU AgCenter’s local 4‑H program, reported enrollment of 207 members districtwide and said leaders hope to reach between 250 and 300 this year. Bennett outlined programming focused on life skills for grades 4–12 and described expansions in Shooting Sports participation, which she said increased to 57 members from roughly 35 the prior year. She noted junior leaders’ volunteer work, including a recent holiday ‘Christmas boxes’ service project.
Two student leaders from Union Central Elementary, identified as Ty Prim and Ella Taror, addressed the board briefly. Ty said 4‑H “teaches us life skills that we use,” and Ella described her recent attendance at a Shooting Sports camp. Their remarks underscored the board’s emphasis on youth development in extracurricular programming.
The board closed the segment by thanking staff and community volunteers who support school activities. No formal action was taken on recognitions or the 4‑H update; the items were presented for information and community acknowledgment.
