The Hallock City Council voted unanimously on Dec. 16 to hire Kara Johnson as the city’s deputy clerk at step 3, $21.36 per hour, the council recorded. Councilor Naomi Larson, who led the personnel committee, moved to approve the hire; Councilor Kevin Waller seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Larson reported that the personnel committee completed a first round of interviews with Councilor Mike Totleben and City Administrator Kendra Kroening, and that second interviews were conducted by Mayor David Treumer, Larson and Kroening. Larson told the council she recommended step 3 because the candidate has more experience than the previous deputy clerk, who started at step 2. Larson also noted the position will include a standard six-month probationary period.
The motion to hire Johnson recorded no opposing votes. City Administrator Kendra Kroening prepared the meeting minutes and the council adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
