A notable approval was a quality-control proposal increasing the energy-recovery ventilator scope from one unit to two (ASI No. 4) at a cost of $49,157. Staff explained that design recalculations required a second unit to meet performance expectations and that the additional cost would be covered by the existing jail renovation budget. “DLZ originally designed these units, we were under the assumption that one of these would work... DLC requested that a second be added,” a project staffer said when describing the change.
Other approvals included COR line items for painting and drywall ($7,138.22 plus other items), overtime for tile work ($9,906), signage ($720), plexiglass/mezzanine changes ($27,351), and front signage ($12,060.45) requiring a 50% down payment. The board approved the motions by voice vote with staff reporting the items fall within the previously approved bond/project budgets.
Next steps: contractors will proceed with the approved work and staff will continue to manage change-order documentation and payment schedules under the jail renovation project budget.
