The City Council approved a recommendation to double Charlotte Festival booth rental fees, increasing basic 10x10 booth space to $50 and a 10x10 space with electricity to $100. Councilmember Melinda Miller moved the fee increase and Councilmember Ricky Pastor seconded; the minutes record the motion as approved with 'Ayes: All.'
During Committee Reports, 'Rep. Jody Barrett' communicated that charter changes had passed and will return to the Committee for a final vote. Mayor Garland Breeden said he discussed audit-related requests with the comptroller officer, who told the mayor that some requested items were unrelated to the audit and that the mayor will follow up with auditors for clarification.
Streets & Bridges noted the city clears only what blocks roadways when trees fall inside city limits. Public Safety indicated electrical bids for the Fire Department were received and that the mayor will review bids and make a decision. Parks & Recreation and Beautification reported painting on the fountain has started. Ambulance Service reported sprinklers are being installed in the new building and they expect occupancy by June–July; the minutes record a question about how to handle the old building but no decision was recorded.
The meeting recorded no public comments and adjourned on a motion by Councilmember Stevie Smith, seconded by Councilmember Ricky Pastor.
