Road & Bridge Supervisor Gary Ward told the Woodson County Board of Commissioners on June 23 that persistent heavy rain has delayed permanent road repairs and the department is focusing on keeping routes passable.
Ward said weather, not staffing, is the main barrier to completing repairs and urged that information about road conditions be published to inform residents. He reported AT&T had not submitted a permit request that could affect right-of-way work and presented photographs of equipment staged for a Purple Wave auction, including a bumper, winch truck, Bobcat, stove, pickup, pallet fork and truck bed.
Ward described a skid steer that requires extensive repairs — including to heating, air conditioning and ductwork — and commissioners asked staff to provide a parts-and-cost list. Todd Green told the board the Case machine is still needed for sidewalk work at the courthouse, and the board discussed ongoing tree-trimming needs at county properties; Jarrod McVey said Shepard Farms removed an emergency limb the previous day and that additional work will require confirmation of insurance coverage and at least two bids.
The board did not take formal policy action on road repairs at the meeting; members requested additional information and follow-up on permitting and repair estimates.
