Woodson County commissioners approve routine business: lease, hire, tourism support and $83,341 in vouchers

At its June 16 meeting the Woodson County Board of Commissioners approved several routine items, including a lease, personnel action, and funding for a fair event.
The board approved the meeting agenda and prior meeting minutes by voice vote. County Counselor Bret Heim reviewed the Sheep Auction lease; commissioners voted to sign the lease between Woodson County and the Woodson County Sheep Auction.
David Waddell, Solid Waste Supervisor, presented a wage/new-hire sheet and commissioners approved hiring Tristen Cartright as a part-time Solid Waste Worker. Waddell said he has advertised an additional open position. Road & Bridge Assistant Supervisor Todd Green reported ongoing tree trimming and identified a courthouse-lawn tree needing removal; commissioners directed staff to advertise for removal bids.
Justin Clark moved to recess into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel performance with commissioners and Todd Green until 9:21 a.m.; Kevin Stuber seconded and the motion passed. Bret Heim left the meeting at 9:05 a.m.
Treasurer Michelle Zimmerman provided a copy of a letter regarding trash service to KDOT for review and updated the board on employee handbook revisions. Emergency Management/EMS official John Atkin said he is completing storm damage assessments and preparing budget estimates.
Kevin Stuber presented a Chamber Board request for $500 to support a concert during the county Fair; commissioners approved the payment from Tourism Funds. The board approved vouchers totaling $83,341.09. The meeting adjourned at 10:34 a.m.
